"Can i just say that i like your hair this length? Let's get a snapshot." "Yeah, it always grows or gets shorter." ~Jen, and Meg's respose 0 comments Wednesday, October 30, 2002
I know Im a couple days late on this, but I went to see They Might Be Giants vs. McSweeney's at the Athanaeum last Friday with Meg, as my brithday present. It was an amazing show that combined various styles of literature (a la Dave Eggers and others) with music (TMBG). The opener Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players aslo fit well into this theme, by combining music and a slide show, with the songs being written about the slides, which were themselves purchased at estate sales. They are appearing on Conan on election night, November 5th, so everyone should go watch them. They are simply a husband who plays the keyboards and wife who runs the slides while their 8 year old daughter is on the drums. Back to the main show, the format was pretty much alternating between words and music, with each act broken up by John Hodgeman, the host and moderator of the evening. The highlight performance for me was Dave Eggers' reading from his new novel, You Shall Know Our Velocity. Following the main portion of the show, TMBG came out alone and performed about a half a set. It was great to see the crowd standing and actually rocking with them (those who stayed, since a good deal of the artsy 'Im here to see the intellectual aspects only' people had left). Following the show I bought Eggers' book to read in full, and Meg and I discovered that we could make the walk back to the belmont el station in under 9 minutes through very fast walking. All in all it was a great night, and one of the mest birthday presents I've ever gotten. 0 comments Monday, October 28, 2002

For all you buffy fans, if you were looking for the 2 songs from last nights episode (in a flashback to the musical) you can find them here. Thanks to Kevin (who doesn't really know me) for hosting them. 0 comments Friday, October 18, 2002

How often is it that I have finsihed 2 assignments due the next day prior to midnight the night before. Not that often I would say, but tonight I have done it. Maybe its due to the fact that I still have one more to go and didn't want to be up all night. Either way, its nice to have at least a little pressure off my back. In other news, I am now the official treasurer of IAESTE Northwestern. We had elections tonight, although they were actually more like a bargaining session as we worked out who would fit well in all the positions. After that I attended a "feast" at Meg's. At least that was the idea, but there were only 4 of us. Despite the low turnout (due to date parties and such) the food was excellent, cooked by Meg, Nick and Natasha (who Meg met when she was in South Africa and goes to Vasser). 0 comments Monday, October 14, 2002

Changed the archives to a monthly instead of weekly structure in an effort to save a little space, and finally fixed it so that I can actually publish again, since nothing had been coming up for a while now due to an error on bloggers side. 0 comments Thursday, October 10, 2002
Im done with at least 10% of BME lab. Most of you won't know what that really means, but its a pretty big accomplishment. I had my oral report earlier today (technically yestarday now) on the frequency response of the IsoDam amplifier. The interesting aspect of the oral report was that I didn't know I was presenting until after 2 pm on Tuesday, and I didn't get my topic till after 5. Then I had under 20 hours till the report was due at noon when I presented it to the class. There were 11 of us brave souls (read: victims) who got to go on the first day with such short notice, but the good part about it was that there was instant gratification, and grades were given out at the end of class. I was really pleased with how I did, and I think going first may have influenced that at least slightly. Now its off to bed again after one of my stranger sleeping schedules, although I guess I am kind of known for not having scheduled sleep time like the rest of the world. Anyway, good night all! 0 comments Seems I may have a spike in readership thanks to prominent placement on my bro's blog. Since I probably know 90% of the people who have ever read this, I'd like to say hi to all those new people whose names I might have heard once or twice. 0 comments Monday, October 07, 2002
Not to freak anyone out with me being the crazy stalker type at all, but its interesting to watch someones homepage take shape, bit by bit, over the course of an hour or so as they upload and test repeatedly. Slowly the design gets tweked into something they want, something that defines it as theirs (as opposed to this generic template, with several subtle alterations) [note to self: work on that]. It's inspiring in its own way to know that if someone else can do it, then you can probably at least try. Now, it might not happen right now, but changes are in the air in the future for this place. Maybe I'll work in a little NU purple somehow, rather than the slightly dreary blue/gray combo that I have now. Blue/Gray seem to be my colors in some way though cause in conjunction with red, they seem to be the dominant colors in my rooms of days gone by- with BGR (blue gray red) moon shapes on my wallpaper in Parsippany with a gray rug and furniture, and gray wallpaper with a red rug in Westfield. 0 comments I've gone from staying ridiculously late on purpose, (well doing work that needs to get done) to just a plain old insomniac over the past few days/week. Now if I am able to get to bed before 4 am let alone fall asleep it is a miracle. I just have gotten myself into this odd sleeping pattern that definitely isnt healthy, but there isn't really much I can do about it. So tonight I shall try again, and seeing how it is only a little past 2 I may succeed and end up with almost 7 decent hours of sleep, quite an accomplishment for me considering my history of late. 0 comments Sunday, October 06, 2002
It only the end of the first full week of school, but already I think Im busier than ever before. The classes are iteresting and things are going really well, other than my inability to sleep a decent amount. Just need to find time to do all the things I have to do in addition to those I want to. 0 comments |
